| Bio: |  Hi! I'm Chris, a 25 year old comedy-obsessive with a love of sushi, music, politics and nonsense that borders on the obsessive. Nice to meet you!For the next year, my blog might be a trifle dull. You see, up until March 2008, I was a stand-up comedian, performing silly, surreal, experimental and strange jokes and stories to anyone who would listen. I gigged mostly around London, and it was massive amounts of fun! I made lots of new friends, did about 150 gigs, and even set up my own club, The After School Club, a new material night for alternative comics to muck around with ideas which might leave a less comedy-savvy audience a bit frightened and confused. There was free cake, drawing competitions, and lots and lots of twee. I've taken a very temporary step out of stand-up for the rest of the year, because necessity has led to me wanting to save a lot of money in a very short space of time. So, I've moved to Newbury and started commuting to London, and working practically every hour of every day. This means that, for the next year, my blog is going to be terribly boring - a chaotic collection of things I've found on the net, things I've thought about, and shows that I've been to see. But sometimes it's entertaining, and my blog is also tax-deductable, so it's definitely worth sticking around, and waiting for it to get interesting again. Also: if you read my blog, people will want to have sex with you. FACT! I love comedy, with every proton, neutron and electron in my body. Stand-up, sketch, sitcom or something more experimental, it is an art-form to which I devote myself entirely. I like comedy which is upbeat, positive, fun, surreal, and silly, and I'm all about comedy that is friendly and intelligent. And I try to make sure that my stand-up follows a simliar line. It's hard to describe my own stand-up, because I don't want to sound proud or boastful, but I try to tell silly, flight-of-fantasty stories, mixed with friendly banter, whimsical one-liners, and ideas which don't necessarily have big punch-lines or pay-offs, but are more about the journey, and possibly confusing a few people along the way. I'm just tryin' my 'ardest! I dabble in philosophy, history and particularly politics. I'm a general Private Eye reading, privatisation hating, corporate loathing lefty that is staunchly athiest, and despises Rupert Murdoch with a passion bordering on the mentally ill. When I was younger I was in a few socialist parties, and I left them all because they're almost as cult-like as Scientologists, but I still firmly believe in socialist policies. Run things so they work, instead of for profit. Educate people in poverty. And perhaps most importantly, find the board of directors for British Aerospace, and nuke their faces off. I just recently joined The Green Party. But that was just the other day, so I've not done anything yet. But maybe one day! I'm a pop culture junkie. See below for Lists of Stuff Wot I Like.
